How To Deal With Dog Food Allergies

Around 80% of dogs today have some type of Dog Food Allergies which comes from the type of dog food that they are eating. Your actual approach to this problem should be thorough and systematic and you should deal with this issue as quickly as possible.

Your first step should be a visit to your vet. It is unfortunate that there is no pill that can be prescribed to help with this problem. The only real option is to omit the food that is causing your dog these problems.

The symptoms are very much like humans as they do differ from dog to dog, your dog may experience scratching, biting, etc., while another dog may experience something entirely different like diarrha and sickness but it all stems to one problem –  Dog Food Allergies.

This can also cause chronic ear infections as well, which can be pretty painful for your dog causing him a lot of distress. It could even lead to Acral Lick Granulomas which is a frustrating resistant condition that is associated with a sore developing on your dogs skin where he feels the need to constantly lick it.

Regarding skin conditions that have been ultimately caused by some sort of Dog Food Allergies – if your dog does develop these conditions then a cool bath with a medicated shampoo would probably be prescribed by your vet. Or a cortispray that contains which hazel which can be used for short periods of time to treat this condition.

If you are aware which substances that your dog is allergic to then it is best advised that you avoid these types of foods immediately, this is probably why many people today are putting their dogs on hypoallergenic type dog foods instead and the reason being that they contain only natural ingredients and are not harmful to their dogs.

Some of the best described culprits for this are: Beef, Chicken, Pork, Eggs etc., and some dogs even have an allergy to lamb as well. So your first step would be to find out what food is causing your dog the problems in the first place then you are in a better position to eliminating the culprit.

While you are finding out what foods his is allergic to there should be no other foods fed to him which includes biscuits, chews toys etc., unfortunately many of the commercial food that is found on our supermarket shelves today is found to have by products or chemicals that upset our dogs digestive systems that causes Dog Food Allergies.
